Alert! Important Travel Alerts and Timeshare Fraud Alerts

consumer-alert

The NTOA is dedicated to educating and helping timeshare owners learn about and confidently use their timeshare ownership. Unfortunately, there are suspicious and fraudulent companies that prey upon unsuspecting timeshare owners who may be interested in selling or renting their timeshare interests for any number of reasons. The vast majority of these scrupulous operations begin with an unsolicited phone call, e-mail or regular mail. Our warning for members and the general public is the same:

DO NOT ENGAGE WITH ANY ENTITY THAT INITIATES DIRECT CONTACT FIRST

These companies have carefully trained their employees to act and sound like legitimate companies designed to help you. BEWARE!

We will regularly curated recent information that we invite you to read. The common thread that all of these alerts and warnings have in common is that the company initiated contact. Additionally, reputable companies do not hold “information meeting” in local restaurant or come to your home. If an unknown company contacts you, without you initiating the conversation, there are three steps to take:
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION. DO NO VERIFY ANY INFORMATION THAT THEY SEEM TO HAVE.
IF YOU HAVE NOT ALREADY DONE SO, REGISTER YOUR PHONE NUMBER WITH THE NATIONAL DO NOT CALL REGISTRY WHICH CAN EASILY BE DONE ONLINE BY CLICKING www.donotcall.gov
ALERT THE NTOA OF ANY CONTACT THROUGH OUR ONLINE INTAKE FORM HERE OR BY CALLING 1-844-ASK-NTOA

Additional notes: Neither RCI, Interval International or another exchange companies hold “informative meetings” in local restaurants or hotels. If you receive an invitation to any of these meetings, report them immediately to us.
